Yo-yo dieters beware!!
We all have that one friend that is always on a “diet”. Maybe it’s your best friend; maybe it’s you. They have tried keto, paleo, South Beach, starvation, detoxes, gluten free; vegan; cold laser therapy to blast fat; and the cabbage soup diet. They seem to gain and lose the same 10-15 pounds over and over and over and over.
Research shows us that the people who GAIN the most body FAT in adulthood are the ones with the most colorful dieting histories; meaning the ones who’ve dieted and yo-yo’d the most.
Year after year and even decade after decade, people experience short-term fat-loss results only to suffer long-term metabolic and hormonal consequences that lead to :
•difficulty with fat loss •low energy •low sex drives
•lowered thyroid function
The lesson missed each time is the connection between the short-term or unsustainable fat-loss methods - too low calories, too long with not enough calories, too much cardio, not enough weight resistance training, too few carbs, not enough protein and definitely not enough recovery time or sleep. The connections to the subsequent weight struggles and longer-term consequences are not surprising then. These are physiological consequences.
So what do they do?
Get right back on that same horse again. And again. And again.

Unfortunately, how you lose fat isn’t just about the now. There are residual and longer-term effects to consider every time you “start on Monday”.
This yo-yo dieting trap essentially programs your body to prefer fat gain to fat loss and energy loss to good and healthy energy usage.
It’s the definition of insanity!
It underestimates just how much MENTAL and EMOTIONAL fitness is at play and must be considered and addressed as an integral part of the PHYSICAL journey.
It’s time to rethink that approach.
Be in it for a long, healthy, happy, and energetic life.
